The Kelly bag project

Our teacher was so nice that she gave to each and one of us a Kelly bag as a gift!

It was great even though it came in this form

So we took our scissors and our glue and we turned it into something like this

And then we had to create a look including the Kelly bag. This is what I came up with

(Imagine the Kelly bag as part of the look!)

Oh my bag!

People who know me know that I have an obsession with bags.
They are a treasure and the type of bags you use can say a lot about yourself. You can wear a plane pair of jeans and a white shirt but with the right bag you can create a very sophisticated look.

Let's talk terminology now!

Shoulder bag

Any type of bag that you can hang from your shoulder.

Satchel

A leather bag that is rigid and has a flat bottom. It is rectangular and it has double handle.

Clutch

It can be big or small but you always take it in your hand.

Tote

A bag with short handle, has the upper part open and it is big.

Hobo

Bohemian style bag with a handle for the shoulder.

Evening bag

With rhinestones or rich materials, it can be a clutch or something small with a handle, chain or a wristband.

Messenger

Small or medium size, in a rectangular shape, it has a long handle that crosses the body.

Structured ladylike

It is of reinforced leather so that it won't change its shape. It has a short handle that you can hold in your arm or hang it from the forearm.

Shoes Shoes Shoes

"When in doubt, wear red" Bill Blass

The shoes are one of the most seductive parts of accessories and they can make us feel totally sexy, strong and savagely feminine.

Pointy toes

They have a round point and they can also be flat or high heels.

Stilettos

They have a super thin and high heel with a minimum of 3,5 inches.

Flats

A flat shoe without any heel or with a minimum of heel.

Loafers

Oxfords

They have laces, inspired by masculine shoes. It can be of low or high heel with perforations on the skin.

Platforms

These shoes have added height that gives them an extra protection on the sole.

Wedges

These shoes have a triangular form on the heel and it gives you height and stability at the same time.

Dorsays

These shoes are cut on the sides creating two parts, a point and a heel.

Peep toes

Either with or without heels they have a hole that allows some toes to be out.

T-straps

It has a strap that starts from the heel and goes to the center of the instep.

Sandals

They can be high or low. They have a strap on the ankle and they don't cover the toes.

Strappy sandals

Sandals with stiletto heels that have multiple straps that cross each other.

Slides

Open shoes with low or high heel and they don't have heel.

Ankle boots

With low or high heels these boots go just under the bone of the ankle.

Flat boots

Either equestrian or motorcycle style they have none or very small heel.

Tall boots

They have to be above the knee. They can be delegate or pleated.

Thongs

They distinguish for having a strap between the big and the second toe. They include flip flops and sandals.

Espadrilles

They can have wedge type heel or be flat. Traditionally they are made of string. They can be open or closed.

Gladiators

These flats are an inspiration from the ones the Romans used. They have a lot of straps that get tied around the ankle until the knee.

Tips

  • Using a minimum of a 2 inch heel flatters any body type.
  • The kind of heel you use should be according to your body type.Using stilettos can make too much of a curvy body so a wider heel is a better option.
  • Using a low cut vamp (upper part of the shoe) or in a V or U shape will flatter your body. Using a high vamp with a skirt can make the legs look shorter.
  • If you use T-straps in skin color they can make your legs look longer. If you use dark colored ones or with rhinestones they can make your legs look shorter.
  • For morning looks you can match your shoes with the same color of your look.Using black ones you can combine colors or prints.
  • Using metallic colors is neutral and they can be used for morning and evening looks.
  • With bright colors using black shoes can make your look heavier and they can make your legs look shorter.
  • Don't use white shoes, go for skin or cream color.
