Fashion girls night out!

Last night some of my classmates and I attended the Heriot-Watt University Graduate Fashion Show here in Edinburgh. The graduates of fashion design had the chance to create collections of 6 total looks according to their inspirations and present them to the public. There were many interesting collections both for men and women. After the show we had the opportunity to see the exhibition of the textile design graduates. There were many interesting fabrics to see but I have to say that my favourite was the panda print fabric in the picture. I would love to have a scarf or a dress made of it! To end the fashion girls night out, we had a drink at the very stylish Hotel Missoni bar.

June + Coat = ??

I never thought that it would be June and the weather would be still cold enough for me to wear a coat. I know that probably the local people think I am crazy or overreacting but the 10-14 degrees Celsius that are on these days are winter temperature for a girl that has lived her whole life in Athens. A girl can only dream that the day will dawn when the weather will be appropriate for a sun dress and sandals... And I can't wait for this to happen! I didn't carry them all the way from home for nothing right??

It's time to say goodbye...

Once again I am packing my suitcase and saying my goodbyes to friends and family before returning to Edinburgh. It is always hard to say goodbye to all the shoes and purses I leave behind and I cannot take with me apart from the all the people... All the time that I am away the poor shoes and purses are stored, not serving their purpose, just patiently waiting for me to come back. What is comforting me in a way is that the climate of Edinburgh would not allow me to use most of them and they would be there sitting in the closet anyway. But I am very happy that I have managed to take with me 2 purses and 3 pairs of shoes that will be going to Edinburgh for the first time!!! So goodbye rest of the shoes, goodbye rest of the purses, goodbye sunshine, goodbye beach, goodbye friends and family....

Paris, Louis, Marc je vous aime!!!

When in Paris, life is surrounded by fashion. Walking down Champs-Elysees feels like you are in shopping paradise. I was in Paris last week and of course I visited the Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs exhibition in Les Arts Decoratifs. The museum is just next to the Louvre museum and it is very easy to reach by metro. The exhibition expands in two floors. On the first floor the work of Louis Vuitton is presented, the way he started, his trunks, his innovations, the fashion styles during his time. On the second floor the works and inspirations of Marc Jacobs as a creative director are presented, many handbags and also many catwalk looks, the collaborations with important artists. In Paris it doesn't matter if you are student when you are older than 25 so if you are older than that there is no discount. Also, there is no hologram like in the Louboutin exhibition to keep the boys occupied. However, my boy was not bored so I take that as a good sign. If you happen to be in Paris by mid September and you love fashion you definitely have to visit the exhibition!!! No photos allowed here as well and no guideline on the sketchbooks but I believe they are allowed.

Louboutin @London

Yesterday I was lucky enough to visit the Christian Louboutin exhibition at the Design Museum of London. If you are a shoe lover and you happen to be in London by the beginning of July I highly recommend it. Many of his designs, his influences and thoughts are present in this exhibition that celebrates the 20 years of the brand. If you are a student you get a discount ticket and the location of the museum is enough to convince you, next to Thames with a view of Tower Bridge. It is not allowed to take pictures inside the exhibition but sketchbooks are encouraged for the creative ones. Oh and it is not boring for the boys either, a hologram of Dita von Teese will keep them occupied ;)   

Butterflies on a rainy day

When the weather is like this then what can you wear so that you keep your feet warm and dry apart from wellies?? I know that they are not the chicest shoes ever and you wouldn't want to wear them everyday but they really come in handy in days like this. The box of Pandora

My sister came to visit us over the weekend and it was Christmas all over again on Friday evening exchanging gifts!! For those who know a little about Greek mythology they might have heard about Pandora. She opened the box where all the pains and troubles were kept because of her curiosity and that is why people suffer from problems according to the myth. The phrase "the box of Pandora" is still used nowadays to show that an action can have many negative consequences. Luckily, the box of Pandora that I was given by my sister  had a very pleasant surprise: a charm bracelet from the well known jewelry brand with the first charm!! Now I can't wait to start buying more charms for it!!
