Blue on blue on blue

You know I am not one to shy away from bold contrasts but sometimes it is ok to go more subtle. If you are in a mood to create a look with a soft colour palette you can always combine different tones of the same hue just like I did in this look by playing with different shades of blue. The result is very harmonious yet not boring. 

When I bought this dress back in February on sale I didn't really think through the fact that the low back cut and the high front slit would be elements that would make me insecure about using it on its own. Neither had I realised how easily the fabric wrinkles. However I still like it so I had to find a way to be able to use it and I am quite pleased with the effect that it gives as a top layer. That doesn't really solve the wrinkling problem but I have decided just to ignore it and accept the fact that it will never look perfect. Who wants to look perfect anyway?

Fringe and yarn

Earlier this week I started telling you about my trip to Finland and the nice things I found there. While exploring Lahti, we went to this very nice café by the lake and next to it there was a handcrafts store full of beautiful things made in Finland. My love for yarn and knitting and for quirky earrings led me to buy this very cool pair. 

Although I consume a lot of fast fashion (for example this bag from Target), I also have a deep appreciation for things that are handmade and that support small businesses and artisans as my earrings made in Finland, my dress made in Mexico and my sandals made in Greece.

Doesn't it feel great to use pieces that carry a tradition, history and craftsmanship meaning?

Karlito by the beach

A simple dress and a pair of casual sandals can be transformed with the right accessories. Sequins, pearls and tassels are guaranteed to give your look a fancier touch and get all the attention. If someone tells you that sequins and pearls are meant to be used in formal occasions, prove them wrong and wear the outfit all day long! There are no rules in fashion as long as you feel pretty and comfortable with what you are wearing!

Although in my everyday life I like big handbags that can fit even a goldfish in a bag (if you are not a huge FRIENDS fan like myself probably you don't get the reference) when I am on vacation I find that only a small cross body bag that fits the basic is more than enough for me. And if it is fun, quirky and cute even better for an island escape.

We're cool for the summer

Now that summer is here (at least where I live), shorts are a good way to create casual looks that keeps you fresh and comfortable. Just like their long brothers, denim shorts are a basic that can be combined with anything. Just put an interesting top and a pair of colourful sandals and you are ready to enjoy your days!

The greeks in Oaxaca

I thought it would be a great idea to create a 100% greek outfit and contrast it with the colonial architecture of the centre of Oaxaca. But then I was lucky enough to have access to one of the ateliers of Dr Lakra, internationally renowned artist who resides in the city. So it was a privilege for me to use as a background a wall that he has painted himself with his art. So enjoy the merge of greek fashion and Mexican contemporary art.

The weather is quite unpredictable here at the moment. When I leave the house for work in the morning it is quite cool and then in the afternoon it gets hot and then again fresh in the evening so what can be done? Although the summer is still going strong here, the A/C is on and after sitting for a while on my desk I feel like I am freezing! this is why a jacket, a cardigan or a shirt (as in this case) is always necessary! Maybe the outfit is quite simple but once again the emphasis is on the accessories and especially on my gorgeous handmade necklace!
