Fringe and yarn

Earlier this week I started telling you about my trip to Finland and the nice things I found there. While exploring Lahti, we went to this very nice café by the lake and next to it there was a handcrafts store full of beautiful things made in Finland. My love for yarn and knitting and for quirky earrings led me to buy this very cool pair.
Although I consume a lot of fast fashion (for example this bag from Target), I also have a deep appreciation for things that are handmade and that support small businesses and artisans as my earrings made in Finland, my dress made in Mexico and my sandals made in Greece.
Doesn't it feel great to use pieces that carry a tradition, history and craftsmanship meaning?

Flowers, sparkles and beads

You probably have noticed that bomber jackets are having a big moment as a trend. Although I was tempted to buy one the past months, I hadn't found anything available on my size that I would be excited about. However on my sale scavenger hunt I came across this one and I really liked it because of the print. I tried it on and I felt it fit well and of course having to pay just 1/3 of the original price helped me make up my mind pretty fast. Let's hope the weather will keep fresh for a little while so that I can get to wear it a few times before the summer comes ;)

Coral and pearls

Although I am a big fan of eye-catching, show stopping earrings as you may have guessed from the ones I usually wear and post, I do love pearls that are the definition of elegance and classic. Including the bow was just a little extra to urge me make the purchase. And it looks like I made a right choice: look how they can upgrade a casual outfit and make it cuter and girlier!!

Bad stripes

When it comes to outfits I feel like I have multiple personalities. Sometimes I like wearing fancy dresses and looking very formal, sometimes I am all about my jeans and very casual looks, sometimes I like to bring elements from both worlds. So here goes the mood of the day: a dress and a tiny bag to feel girly, colourful shoes to feel the positive vibes and a baseball cap to feel cool!

The princess and the stripes

It is Monday so it is more than normal to identify with Lumpy Space Princess and her rebellious and grumpy attitude. Graphic print t-shirts are a trend that has come to stay. Find the print that represents you and don't be afraid to combine this casual t-shirt with a skirt and give it a boost!

Karlito by the beach

A simple dress and a pair of casual sandals can be transformed with the right accessories. Sequins, pearls and tassels are guaranteed to give your look a fancier touch and get all the attention. If someone tells you that sequins and pearls are meant to be used in formal occasions, prove them wrong and wear the outfit all day long! There are no rules in fashion as long as you feel pretty and comfortable with what you are wearing!

Beatles and Miss Confetti

A black cross-body bag is a classic especially for a night out. Half moon bags are having a moment this season. What do you get when you combine both and give them a gold polka dot print? My new, super cute bag! Who says black has to be boring??

Sisy and stripes

The summer season is upon us and I wanted to buy a new pair of sandals to start with the right foot. I went around looking and although I saw many interesting things I couldn't find my size (this happens a lot to me with shoes here in Mexico). Then I saw that Loly in the Sky was now doing sandals and I just couldn't resist. I love how in true "Loly" spirit they are quirky, cute and comfortable!

Blue, gold and pink

I remember not that long ago that I used to have only a pair of sunglasses that I would use every day, for any occasion. However in the past couple of years I have developed a slight obsession for them so I currently own 7 pairs, including these news ones. Of course some of them are not by a brand so they are not of great quality but I feel like they make for a perfect fashion accessory and at the same time protect my (sensible to the light) eyes.

Earrings for the evil eye

The evil eye is something that is believed to exist in Greek culture and in order to protect themselves from it, people wear eye shaped stones. I don't know if it exists or not but just to be on the safe side I am glad I was given as a gift these beautiful earrings which serve a double purpose: protection from the evil eye and an accessory that will make your outfit special and get the attention.  This is my last blog post as a girl in her twenties so I want to share some thoughts with you:
You don't need to be rich to be stylish. Also you don't need to buy clothes every week to create new looks, just buy pieces that can be easily combined with other pieces in your closet. Accessories can really make something special out of your low budget look.
I'll be back soon with my first outfit as a 30-year-old woman!

Handmade accessories

As much as I am a big fan of trends and international fashion, I appreciate a lot local designers and handmade creations. I live in Mexico, a country rich in textile tradition that at the same time has a lot of young creatives trying to find recognition. Support the resources your country has, give artisans and young designers the opportunity to have a better life! And who knows? Probably you will get to create more interesting, unique outfits...

Stripes and birds

No need to feel blue but why not dress in it? Blue is a classic that is suitable for any season and any occasion and it goes well with any other colour so do not hesitate to use it more and convert it into an alternative to black.

Sweaters and coats

Winter here is like a roller coaster: in the same day it can get from 3 to 20 degrees Celsius and in the same week we can get days where the temperature climbs to 30 degrees. So it can be tricky to know how to get dressed. All types of clothing have to be available and ready to go at any time. However coming from a city where winter means low temperatures throughout, I do enjoy the days where the sweaters and coats get to be used!
