Textures and fuchsia

Jeans are always my go-to piece of clothing when I am in doubt of what to wear. For me they are the most comfortable and easiest garment to style. As great as they look for a casual look with flats and a sweater they are equally cool with a pair of heels and a cute top for a night out. Just combine with a pretty cross body bag and a nice jacket and you are ready for dinner and drinks.

Sweaters and coats

Winter here is like a roller coaster: in the same day it can get from 3 to 20 degrees Celsius and in the same week we can get days where the temperature climbs to 30 degrees. So it can be tricky to know how to get dressed. All types of clothing have to be available and ready to go at any time. However coming from a city where winter means low temperatures throughout, I do enjoy the days where the sweaters and coats get to be used!

Back to 2015 adventures

I started my 2016 blogging by telling you that I had been away on vacation but I didn't give you many details of my endeavors so it is time to tell you a little bit more. I spent the last days of 2015 in Mexico City and the first days of 2016 in Cancun. My sister with her boyfriend came for a visit so of course sightseeing was a big part of our days. One of the days in Mexico City was spent in Coyoacán where we visited Casa Azul, the Frida Kahlo museum, where the artist grew up and also lived with her husband Diego Rivera. We also visited the Cathedral, the market, had a great late lunch at Los Dazantes and then walked around its beautiful alleys. It is a really nice part of the city so if you are planning on visiting don't forget to include it to your plans.

Grey with pops of colour

Grey is a great winter colour, it is not as dark as black but it is still neutral and appropriate. However, you don't want your outfit to be boring. So throw a pair of tights with texture and some colourful accessories into the mix and you are bound to stand out!

Rebozo and snake skin

Although I am not Mexican, I have been living in this country for 4 years (in total, I did take a break in between) so I have come to appreciate deeply many things about this place such as the food, the people, the culture. A very important element is its rich tradition of textiles which is so interesting to me so you can imagine I was very excited when I was given this rebozo as a Christmas present. I love how something this traditional can look so contemporary!

Sunglasses by the river

I love sunny winter days because you need a beautiful coat but at the same time your cool sunglasses. Exploring the San Antonio river walk gave me a perfect excuse to use my new coat partially made of recycled wool and recycled plastic as well as my new colourful sunglasses. 

I bought the coat on my visit to the new (first) H&M store in Monterrey but since the weather had been warm in December, I hadn't had a chance to use it. I really liked the colour and shape of the coat but what I really liked also was the fact that it was from the conscious collection.

For those of you that follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook the sunglasses were the content of the Marc by Marc Jacobs shopping bag in Cancun. I wasn't planning on going shopping but as I was walking around the mall in Cancun I noticed the boutique and then a sign saying that they had a big sale so I couldn't resist going inside and taking a look. The offers were really good and you know me, I just couldn't ignore these eye-catching sunglasses.

Kicking off with knits

Happy New Year! I am sorry I haven't posted anything on the blog for more than 2 weeks but I have been on vacation. Those who follow me on Instagram and Facebook have an idea of what I have been up to. However now that the holidays are over it is time to get back to work and of course to blogging. The sunny days of Christmas are over more the moment so we are starting the year with knits.
