Confetti and pink hair

You know how much I love pink and I decided to go for a new shade with my hair that will hopefully last longer than the pastel colour I am usually getting. It was only appropriate to combine it with my brand new t-shirt (another birthday present) and have a colourful day!

Crochet and wicker

You know how much I appreciate handmade beautiful creations. This black top I have had for some months but the weather wasn't warm enough until now to wear it. The niece of a colleague made it for me and she crocheted it in no time! It was impressive how she asked for my measurements and then in a few days it was already ready for me to use. As for the piggy bag, if you remember I had bought it in Oaxaca when I visited in October and although I do not wear it very often I must say I still love its playful nature.
The greatest thing about these handmade pieces is that as you can see they can be easily combined with high street and high fashion brands and create a whole new, interesting look!

Stripes, flowers and hot pink lips

Last Sunday it was my birthday. Now that I am 30 I am not planning on dressing up more formal, sneakers and jeans will still do. My quest for feeling comfortable and pretty with my look and making my outfits special with accessories will still be on. I am considering however to start wearing lipstick more often (dare I say daily?) so when I went to H&M with a friend the other day, I decided to buy this hot pink one. I am really liking it but it is me so let's see for how long I will keep up with its use.

  • Long blue and white striped t-shirt: LEFTIES
  • Skinny ripped jeans: PRIMARK
  • Flower print sneakers: TAYLOR SWIFT FOR KEDS
  • Pink necklace: no brand, one of my birthday presents

Earrings for the evil eye

The evil eye is something that is believed to exist in Greek culture and in order to protect themselves from it, people wear eye shaped stones. I don't know if it exists or not but just to be on the safe side I am glad I was given as a gift these beautiful earrings which serve a double purpose: protection from the evil eye and an accessory that will make your outfit special and get the attention.  This is my last blog post as a girl in her twenties so I want to share some thoughts with you:
You don't need to be rich to be stylish. Also you don't need to buy clothes every week to create new looks, just buy pieces that can be easily combined with other pieces in your closet. Accessories can really make something special out of your low budget look.
I'll be back soon with my first outfit as a 30-year-old woman!

Fur for those who wander

We are going through the last days of winter and are about to enter spring officially next week. Depending where you are winter might last a little longer or you may be already experiencing summer. If you are in a place that the weather is still quite chilly, I say seize the opportunity to wear the pieces that you will certainly not be able to wear until next winter such as a fur stole and maybe do some layering that soon won't be needed.
And if you happen to have a brand new pretty, colourful handbag that you were given as a present from your love definitely throw it in the mix!!

  • Denim shirt/black wide-leg trousers: ASOS CURVE
  • Light blue 3/4 sleeve top: ZARA with handmade graphic print made by me
  • Pink imitation fur stole: PULL & BEAR
  • Imitation crocodile skin flat slingbacks: H&M

Fashion never sleeps

My students decided to make sweatshirts with phrases that represent life in fashion. It is a good thing that they are realising very early that it is a tough and constantly transforming business and they are using it in order to raise money to donate to a local cause. So of course I supported them by buying one. To make this sweatshirt look more girly and office appropriate I decided to combine it with the ultimate feminine shape, the pencil skirt. At the same time the tartan print helps break the monotony of the black.

  • Black sweatshirt with graphic print: no brand
  • Blue and green tartan pencil skirt: ASOS CURVE
  • Black texture tights: H&M
  • Black leather biker ankle boots: ZARA

Flowers and squares

I know flowers for spring are not exactly groundbreaking but it does feel good to wear  them and combine them with light colours. And the combination of colours gives me the perfect excuse to finally use these pretty handmade earrings that I received as a present some time ago but I hadn't found the chance to use.

  • Black tank top: PRIMARK
  • Black floral trousers: NEW LOOK INSPIRE
  • Large pink quilted bag: DKNY

Handmade accessories

As much as I am a big fan of trends and international fashion, I appreciate a lot local designers and handmade creations. I live in Mexico, a country rich in textile tradition that at the same time has a lot of young creatives trying to find recognition. Support the resources your country has, give artisans and young designers the opportunity to have a better life! And who knows? Probably you will get to create more interesting, unique outfits...

  • Red studded slippers: ZARA
  • Black and white tweed backpack: MARIA GALAN
  • Rebozo: bought in Oaxaca
  • Sunglasses: DKNY
