Woven in Venice

A denim shirt can look well with pretty much anything so the print pencil skirt was not the exception. If you think it is too plain just add accessories that will catch the attention such as the interesting backpack (Phoebe the cat seems to like it too), the handmade earrings and the simple yet pretty ring.

Butterflies and flowers

As I have said in the past mixing and matching your prints is a yes-yes for me so I include it regularly on my outfits. Why don't you just give it a try? If you are scared it will look too much just follow my lead on this one and only mix them on the upper half of your outfit keeping the rest print free.

The greeks in Oaxaca

I thought it would be a great idea to create a 100% greek outfit and contrast it with the colonial architecture of the centre of Oaxaca. But then I was lucky enough to have access to one of the ateliers of Dr Lakra, internationally renowned artist who resides in the city. So it was a privilege for me to use as a background a wall that he has painted himself with his art. So enjoy the merge of greek fashion and Mexican contemporary art.

Denim and piggy

Continuing with the handmade creations it is time for another bag. I know you probably think I am addicted and you wouldn't be wrong. I just find it very hard to say no to a bag that I really like, as long as I can afford it. In my quest for quirky I came across this cutie that I just could just not resist. So here is the piggy bag styled in a way to catch all the attention of the outfit!

Cats and knit

I have decided that this week, all the outfits posted will include one item of clothing/accesories handmade. Yesterday it was the woven backpack, today it is the knit shawl. Now that the weather is getting chillier a shawl can really be useful early in the morning and in the evening after sunset. Using one made of t-shirt yarn is ideal for the kind of temperature we are having and it is bound to catch the attention.

Rebozo and sneakers

I am sorry I have not been posting anything for a week but I was getting to know Oaxaca and its beauties and traditions. I have learned so much, eaten too much, enjoyed this great place to the maximum. Oaxaca is well known for its long history of textiles since the prehispanic era.
All the wool that you see hanging behind me has come from sheep in the area and has been dyed with natural methods. The rebozo that I am wearing is a traditional mexican shawl that has been woven in a loom called telar de cintura and it is time to give it a modern twist with my outfit :)

  • Crop skinny jeans: LEVI'S

The lucky find

If you have been following me you must have realised by now that I love accessories that are very interesting and quirky. I had seen 2 of my students wearing this sort of necklace, both from another region than where we are located, and I had loved it. When I asked them about it I was told that it had come from a store that didn't exist any longer so I gave up on the idea that I would ever get the chance to make one mine.
However a few days ago I went to a local store to specifically buy an agenda and while I was looking around I suddenly saw a glass bowl containing these necklaces. I just couldn't believe it, I had completely forgotten about them and there they were. So of course I couldn't let the opportunity pass by and chose the one that I felt was more suited to my style!
Don't you just love it when luck brings these little treasures your way?

The rise of the sneaker

Who said that sneakers are only suitable to wear with sweats or jeans? Traditionally sneakers were only to exercise or for very casual outfits but in the past years since they got the attention of fashion designers, they have become the go-to-shoe for all fashionistas. Let's not forget that the boost that this trend has given to the classic models such as the Chuck Taylor, the Stan Smith, the AirMax or the New Balance. So now is the moment to leave your high heels aside and let your feet rest without looking out of place!!
